Form and ecology

Weedle is a common Bug and Poison dual-type Pokemon of the Kanto forests. Its whole body is earth yellow and a sharp red venom horn grows on its head. Three pairs of golden ring markings on its back store toxins, and the stinger on its tail can extend and retract, thrusting out to release neurotoxin when it meets an enemy. Its body surface is densely covered with fine hairs used to absorb tree sap, and it can lick the sap of 30 leaves per hour.

Special physiological mechanisms

• The venom horn contains a bug glue substance with a pH of 2.3, able to dissolve a Metapod's shell, as confirmed by the Scarlet and Violet Pokedex.
• The tail stinger is connected to a venom sac, and when full the stinger turns deep purple. Venom storage is 0.3 ml per shot.
• Its silk reaches a strength of 80 MPa, 1.6 times that of Caterpie, and can bind a Spearow within 5 seconds.

Evolution chain and survival strategy

Weedle at lv7 becomes Kakuna, and Kakuna at lv10 becomes Beedrill.

• Kakuna stage: the stinger hardens into metal armor, raising Defense by 25. It can only use Harden and Poison Sting, with a 30% poison chance.
• Beedrill evolution: the stinger evolves into twin lances and it learns Pin Missile and Fell Stinger. Its flight speed reaches 15 m per second and its venom storage rises to 1.2 ml.
