How new players level fast in POCKET MYTH

How new players can level quickly in POCKET MYTH, which Pokemon to invest in, and the daily routine that builds a strong team.

Once you enter the game, the very first decision is the starter, and personal preference comes first. For Fire the recommended pick is the Generation 9 Fuecoco, for Grass the Generation 1 Bulbasaur, and for Water the Generation 3 Mudkip. None of them is recommended as your main carry at the start; wait until you have a shiny before investing heavily, since a shiny gets a 10% bonus to all stats.

About spending

  • Spending is always what players care about most, but new players do not need to think about how big the gap is between themselves and big spenders or veteran players. You can treat it purely as a single-player game you play with friends, and later fight Tera raids and doubles ranked matches with good friends. Also, every Pokemon in the game can be obtained for free if you do not care about shinies, and even some shiny second-tier legendaries can be obtained later through Tera raids.
  • New players are advised to buy the monthly card at the start, since it has relatively high value. It gives around 6500 diamonds a month, plus experience bonuses, triple battle speed and free one-click ten-encounter battles. In the early game this saves a lot of time whether you are catching Pokemon or clearing quests, and it also makes sure you do not waste your daily fatigue, so you can quickly farm mushrooms to build up Pokemon. The permanent monthly card is also good value and can be bought according to your own situation.
  • The shiny Greninja given with a recharge can be raised as you like. You can choose to build it, with the drawback that its exclusive equipment is harder to star up, and its early map clearing ability is strong, so it can be your main.

Which Pokemon to raise

Dragonite: everyone receives this pseudo-legendary Pokemon, which is very useful in the early game. For the early moveset choose Fire Punch or Thunder Punch, Outrage, Roost and Dragon Dance. You can raise it in the early game and later spend 500 diamonds to reset it, note that friendship and EVs are not kept, then go to the Dragon's Den to catch a shiny Dratini. In the current late game, however, Dragonite is mainly used as a support with Thunder Wave, Roost, Fire Spin and Dragon Tail.

Gyarados: there are many events in the game now. If a festival quest at the start can give you a shiny Gyarados, take it; if you cannot get one for free, develop to level 50 and take the side quest that requires catching 50 Magikarp in exchange for one. Gyarados is the choice of most players: its HP and Attack are no weaker than those of pseudo-legendary Pokemon, and its Moxie ability gives 1 point of Attack for each Pokemon it knocks out, which is extremely useful for early map clearing and quests. Choose the Adamant nature. For the moveset, early map clearing uses Dragon Dance, Crunch, Ice Fang and Waterfall, and the late game uses Dragon Dance, Waterfall, Earthquake or Rest, and Taunt or Dragon Tail; it can also run Tera Blast and other moves, so movesets are very varied. For held items you can choose Leftovers, Water Gem or Power Belt.

Star-up efficiency: an SSR juvenile taken to 2 stars and evolved, then decomposed, gives 25 shards each; a UR juvenile taken to 3 stars and evolved, then decomposed, gives 50 shards each. This saves the most resources.

Other strong SSR Pokemon are too many to describe one by one. Among the SSR Pokemon new players can raise, the author recommends Gholdengo, whose ability ignores status moves and which has recovery, boosting and damage; Gardevoir, which has boosting, damage and draining; Gengar, with the drawback that it needs UR skill books to learn Perish Song and Protect and can also run a Nasty Plot special set; and Volcarona, Swampert, Serperior and others, all of which can be raised.

For team building the author recommends an easy-to-build sandstorm team: Clefable, which needs the UR move Baton Pass; Gigalith, which sets sandstorm weather and can later be replaced by Tyranitar from points; Excadrill as the main attacker with the Sand Rush ability; and Garganacl as the main tank. All of the Pokemon in this team can be caught at Mt. Moon. New players are advised to save more than 5000 fatigue and then use their first shiny perfume there, which has the best value; use the gold and silver perfumes together.

Daily must-dos for gacha, Pokemon Star and guild tasks

  • Gacha machine: plenty of draw tickets are given at the start, so you can choose to draw Generation 3 Pokemon, Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, all of which are very strong. After your second or third UR Pokemon, switch to drawing equipment, that is held item and egg draws, because Pokemon cannot be drawn as shinies and game equipment is more important. Avoid wasting too many draw tickets on Pokemon.
  • Pokemon Star: you can farm 6 per day, or 9 with the monthly membership. Early on, players are advised to spend part of their stamina each day farming Moltres shards, since Moltres comes from check-in, and later festival events can be exchanged for the powerful Galarian Moltres. If you have Zapdos and Articuno, it is also recommended to farm them every day.
  • Guild tasks: donate gold 5 times a day. In the shop you can exchange for nutrition drinks and held item shards, and small amounts add up.
  • Shop: buy gold once a day for 10 diamonds, which gives quest experience; items at 30% off in the friendly shop can also be bought; and you can buy the LV3 charm selection pack, currently the best value.

Dynamax dungeon and Trial Land

  • Dynamax dungeon: Banette is very practical. Buy evolution stones in the mega shop, and with a priority ability you can use Curse and Trick holding a Life Orb. You can use Pyukumuku, Whimsicott or Raticate with Endeavor and Pain Split 3 times, then pair them with other Pokemon. It is recommended to buy extra weekly attempts, because even if you cannot succeed you still collect more Dynamax candy.
  • Trial Land: it is quite difficult for most new players, so you can pair support Pokemon such as Whimsicott. For this reason, when choosing your main Pokemon early, try to choose Pokemon with recovery and growth moves to invest in.

Final thoughts

For this mobile game, players should not be too impatient; it suits long-term play. Raising a Pokemon is not simply about obtaining it, but requires spending a great deal of time collecting training materials such as gold, diamonds, mushrooms, Tera shards, Star Crystal shards and Overlord stones. So we need to keep enough patience and enthusiasm for building Pokemon. The author hopes the developers will listen to player feedback, update the version more often, develop more interesting events and reduce the cost of raising Pokemon for players.

Event times and rewards follow the in-game schedule. POCKET MYTH is a live game, so details may be adjusted by the development team.
