POCKET MYTH training basics for stats and items
A complete rundown of every training system in POCKET MYTH, from held items and natures to IVs, EVs, Tera and Overlord.
POCKET MYTH is a Pokemon game of free catching, raising and battling. It includes generations 1 to 9, and Tera, Star Crystal, Mega Evolution and Dynamax are already open, with the level cap currently at 100.
Most players obtain resources through daily tasks and those resources are limited. Some resources cannot be recovered once consumed, so it is recommended to focus on raising 1 to 3 Pokemon first, which guarantees the quality, meaning the investment level, of your main team. When choosing Pokemon, UR is not always the best: some SSR and SR Pokemon with good abilities, moves and stat spreads are not inferior to UR and are easier to build to completion. Team composition should mix special attackers, physical attackers, special walls, physical walls and supports; only very strong veterans can go all damage dealers.
Pokemon training includes level, held items, moves, abilities, nature, quality, IVs, star level, EVs, friendship, Mega stones, Tera, Star Crystal, Dynamax and Overlord. Among these, held items and Mega stones can be removed, and the materials for level, quality and star level can be reset and returned; everything else stays on the Pokemon that was trained. Also, if your conditions and ambitions allow, consider obtaining the shiny Pokemon itself before training it.
Level
The level cap is currently 100, and experience candy is also easy to obtain.
Held items
Some Pokemon have exclusive held items, and most UR and SSR held items are very useful, for example Focus Sash, Leftovers, Covert Cloak, Choice Band, Choice Specs, White Herb, Rocky Helmet, Quick Claw and Shed Shell. Early gacha tickets are best spent on the held items you need first. Materials for starring up and leveling held items are not hard to obtain but need to accumulate day by day. With limited resources you need to upgrade selectively early on; unused ones can be decomposed and reset, but the item itself turns into some shards. Achievement quests also include achievements for the number of held items collected, so if you can, complete the achievements first and then decompose the held items you do not need.
Moves
Moves are divided into those a Pokemon learns by itself and those learned from TMs. Designated UR TMs are not easy to obtain: you can join holiday events to exchange for selection packs, use event exchanges, limited-time sales, or rely on luck with random TM gacha. They are one-time items, so use them carefully on Pokemon you play often. Some SSR and SR TMs can be synthesized from Elite Four dungeon shards and will not be in short supply later. Among good UR TMs are status moves such as Swords Dance, Nasty Plot, Rest, Toxic, Taunt and Substitute, plus some high-power moves. Popular Pokemon often have a wide movepool with useful moves.
Abilities
Abilities can be activated by chance with ability stones. Ability stones are one-time items, relatively scarce early and plentiful later. Popular Pokemon often have a good ability, especially Pokemon that play a support role.
Natures
A nature raises one stat you need and lowers one you do not need. For example, a special attacker has no use for physical Attack, so you can choose minus Attack plus Special Attack or Speed. A tank chooses plus Defense minus Attack or Speed. Natures can be rerolled randomly with nature honey, or you can pick the nature you want with a nature mint. Nature honey is relatively scarce early and plentiful later, and the amount consumed increases with the number of rerolls. Mints are harder to obtain, so it is recommended to reroll with nature honey first and only use a mint if you cannot get the nature.
Quality
Quality goes from white to blue to purple to orange to red to deep red. With limited resources you generally take your main team to red; deep red is a pursuit of the limit. Resetting a Pokemon returns the materials. Charms mainly come from the trainer dungeon, which has double drops on weekends, so save up stamina and sweep it. White and blue charms are not in short supply, purple has a gap at the beginning, and orange and red charms have a big gap. Purple and orange charms can be bought in the friendly shop with diamonds: purple has no purchase limit, orange charms are discounted once per day, and red charms can be obtained with luck.
IVs
IVs are rerolled with Artifact Capsules, or maxed directly with silver crowns and gold crowns. A silver crown maxes one chosen stat at 31, and a gold crown maxes all six at once. The maximum IV is 31, so lock each one as soon as you roll it, and each locked stat adds one more capsule to the cost of each reroll. Your main team can be taken to 6V; for supports only reroll the IVs they need, and 29 or 30 is enough. For your main team it is recommended to reroll 3 to 4 stats to 31 with capsules first and then fill the rest with silver crowns, or use a gold crown to max everything at the start if you have one.
Star level
A Pokemon's final evolution can be raised to 6 stars at most. SSR needs 1800 body shards to max out and UR needs 1260 body shards, so it is recommended to raise Pokemon that can be caught directly on the map. Most UR Pokemon can only rely on the daily minimum income, so their training cycle is long.
EVs
A single EV stat can go up to 252, and each berry adds or subtracts 1 point, with a maximum of 510 in total. Be careful not to max all six stats; berry resets are not returned, and berries are relatively scarce early on, so it is recommended to invest in your main damage dealer first. Every 60, 100, 150 and 200 points in a single stat requires a feather breakthrough, needing 5, 10, 20 and 40 feathers, 75 in total. The main source of berries is EV mushrooms exchanged in the berry shop, and EV mushrooms are obtained by defeating or sweeping Pokemon with fatigue; fleeing gives none.
Friendship
Eating nutrition drinks raises six stats, and reaching 99, 199 and 255 gives extra effects. The main sources are the weekly Trial Land and the daily Boss Invasion. Resetting does not return friendship, and the overall gap is large, so it is recommended to use it on your main damage dealer first.
Mega stones
Some Pokemon can Mega Evolve, and evolution raises base stats. Mega stones are exchanged with mega shards and can be equipped and removed at any time. During major festivals you can exchange the stones for Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza and Mewtwo X and Y. They are still relatively scarce in the early and mid game.
Tera
Tera has 18 types, and its function is to boost the power of the Tera type or avoid the weaknesses of the original type. It is not hard to obtain; join the daily events often and you will not lack it later.
Star Crystal
Star Crystal has 10 levels in total and raises all stats. The higher the level, the lower the success chance, the more Star Crystal shards are consumed and the more stats are gained, and reaching levels 3, 7 and 10 gives different extra effects. After Star Crystallization a Pokemon deals increased damage for the first few hits against Tera Pokemon, and Tera Blast becomes Star Crystal Blast. Star Crystal shards are in a relatively large deficit, so it is recommended to give them to your main damage dealer first.
Dynamax
Dynamax has 10 levels in total and raises all stats. It can be raised with Dynamax candy and the Dynamax dungeon; the higher the level, the lower the success chance, the more Dynamax candy is consumed and the more stats are gained, and reaching levels 3, 7 and 10 gives different extra effects. After Dynamaxing, all stats are raised and moves of different types have different additional effects. It is recommended to unlock Dynamax on Pokemon you use often, take your main Pokemon's Dynamax level to 7 and then slowly pursue the maximum.
Overlord
Overlord has 3 levels in total and raises base stats, with different special effect appearances. Overlord level 3 grants a random +1 level of Attack, Special Attack or Speed on entry, and each attempt at Overlord 1, 2 and 3 costs 1, 3 and 5 Overlord stones respectively, with a low chance of success. Resources are limited and the gap is large, and the friendly shop has one discounted purchase per day. Reset does not return the materials, so it is recommended to raise your main damage dealer first; Overlord level 3 is a goal to pursue.
The training of every Pokemon cannot be separated from a trainer's planned hard work. The author hopes every trainer can have the Pokemon they love.
Event times and rewards follow the in-game schedule. POCKET MYTH is a live game, so details may be adjusted by the development team.
